The peculiar Anomalocaris was perhaps one of the strangest looking creatures on this planet! Alien-like in features, it has two big eyes that stick out of its head on stalks, two spikey front limbs and a fanned body and tail.
This bizarre arthropod existed more than half a billion years ago in the Cambrian Period and was one of the world's top predators at that time, growing up to six feet in length. Its name translates to 'unlike other shrimp' in Greek.
